Your Guide to Gifts that will touch the Heart

27 Oct 2022

I can't believe the end of the year is upon us and with that the giving season is officially underway. I was on a call with one of our wonderful supporters recently, and we went down a bit of a rabbit hole discussing the upcoming festive season and what that looks like for Hands Across the Water supporters like you.

With thousands of dollars being spent annually on gifts for business, as well as meaningful Christmas gifts both for business clients and colleagues as well as loved ones, we think there’s a great opportunity for you to consider a gift that will touch the hearts of their recipients, and support the kids of Hands.

You’re not only helping Hands, but with the latest research from McCrindle showing that Australians are in favour of donations to charity replacing traditional gifts, you're appealing to the everyday Australian which, simply put, is your client. Australians are increasingly substituting gifts “for those who have it all” to charitable donations instead.

"It seems that rather than just receiving or giving more stuff,
Australians are looking to make a more lasting difference.”

– Mark McCrindle, Social Researcher

So let me tell you about some of the gift ideas we have come up with...

Your gift today will allow the many more kids that need our help to have a life of choice. Choice to be everything they can, and want to be. Kids like Pim who wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

Beyond just good food, a good bed, or a good education, your gift will give them a good future. A great future. A future that is theirs, by choice.

What greater gift is there?

GIVE NOW

If fancy wine is more your thing then let me introduce you to Goodwill Wines who sources quality boutique Australian wines and donates half of the profits to charities. By selecting Hands Across the Water when you order, we get your donation and you get awesome wine for yourself, loved ones, or clients.

Not only a great Christmas gift, but with the fantastic quirky labels, these would be great to include in your holiday hampers or Secret Santa exchanges.

The Age describes these wines as “seriously good” and Gourmet Traveller Wine says they’re “quality boutique wine”. Cheers to that!

PURCHASE WINE

We know that this time of year takes a lot of energy out of all of us, so the gift of caffeine could be very much appreciated.

A bag of Grind to Provide coffee beans is more than just delicious coffee, it's coffee that makes a difference with 100% of profits helping Hands change the lives of over 350 children.

Wrap it up in a nice box with some eye-catching mugs and you’ve got yourself a fabulous hamper that makes a difference.

PURCHASE COFFEE

Did you know that we have a rewards program that allows you to shop, save and give to Hands through a range of online retailers, gift cards and movie vouchers.

Let me give you an example:

Say you wanted to include a $100 Freedom Voucher in your hampers for clients. Through the program you get a 4% discount on the gift card. If you have nominated Hands to receive 100% of that discount, we will get a $4 donation. Might seem insignificant for one voucher, multiply that by the numbers of client gifts you are putting together and you very quickly start getting into the $100’s of dollars in donations.

As you can see there are so many ways to give a meaningful gift that will touch the hearts of those who receive them, while supporting Hands at the same time.

I’d be happy to talk to you about any of these initiatives, so please get in touch.

Until next time friends,

Claire
