A Life of Choice: The Next Chapter for FahPetch

26 Aug 2026
Many of you will remember FahPetch from Night of Celebration 2025.

This October, he'll be joining us in Brisbane once again. Before then, we thought we'd catch up with him and see what he's been up to.

For those who have followed FahPetch's journey over the years, you'll know he grew up at Baan Tharn Namchai. Today, he's helping create opportunities for the next generation as Hands Thailand's Youth Development and Wellbeing Officer.
It's a role that brings together both his personal experience and his passion for supporting others.

Working closely with young people across our Homes, FahPetch helps support their wellbeing, encourages them to explore their interests, and helps them build confidence as they prepare for life beyond school.

It's work that matters deeply to him because he understands firsthand how important support, guidance and opportunity can be.

Since we last caught up with him, FahPetch has stepped into this new role and continues to learn every day.

"I'm still learning and growing," he says. "I want to keep improving so I can better support the young people in our care."

Outside of work, not much has changed.

He still enjoys the simple things in life, spending time with friends, playing games, kicking a football around and sharing plenty of laughs.

"If I had a free day, I'd love to spend it playing with young children," he says.

It's a simple answer, but one that says a lot about who FahPetch is.

When we asked him what creating a Life of Choice means to him now, his response reflected the way he approaches life.

"Every choice we make and every opportunity we receive helps shape who we become," he says.

"It's important to keep moving forward, give your best to what you choose to do, and not live with regrets."

Today, those are the same lessons he hopes to pass on to the young people he works with.

When FahPetch returns to Night of Celebration this October, there is one thing he wants supporters to know.
Thank you.

"If my life story could fully show you how much your support has changed my life, I think you would be surprised by the impact you've had," he says.

"I'm here today because of the opportunities and support I received along the way, and I hope I can now pass some of that forward."

It's a powerful reminder that the impact of support doesn't end when a child finishes school.

Sometimes, it grows into something much bigger.

Today, FahPetch is helping the young people across our Homes discover their own strengths, explore future pathways and build lives of their own choosing.
Before we see FahPetch in Brisbane, let's get to know him a little better.

One word his friends would use to describe him: Caring.

What's on his bucket list?
Watching Liverpool play at Anfield. He's a passionate Liverpool supporter and would love to experience a match at the club's iconic home ground one day.

What is he learning right now?
More about occupational therapy and how to better support young people with ADHD and autism — knowledge he's already bringing into his work with the kids.

What is he most excited about this year?
Returning to Brisbane for Night of Celebration and helping organise a Career Day Camp that will bring together young people from all three Homes to explore future pathways and possibilities.

Perhaps the answer that stayed with us most was when we asked who he would most like to share a meal with.
Without hesitation, he chose Mae Ja, one of the caregivers who helped raise him at Baan Tharn Namchai and who has since passed away.

"I'd love to see that warm and caring smile again," he says. "And hopefully see a little bit of pride in her eyes too."

Moments like that remind us what Hands has always been about.

The relationships that shape us.
The people who believe in us.
The opportunities that help us grow.
And the chance to pass those opportunities on to someone else.

We can't wait for our Hands family to catch up with FahPetch in Brisbane and hear more about the difference he's making in the lives of young people across our Homes.
