Teach English. Build confidence. Change futures.

At Hands Across the Water, our volunteer English teachers help children build the confidence and communication skills that can open doors for life.

About the Hands English Program

Our English curriculum is based on published language courses and tailored to the needs of the children in our homes. It’s supplemented with additional resources and mapped to Cambridge Young Learner English (YLE) standards.

Where you’ll be based

This volunteer role is based at Baan Tharn Namchai in Khao Lak, Thailand.

Your impact

You’ll deliver structured English lessons, support conversational practice, and help create a positive learning environment where kids feel safe to try, make mistakes, and grow.

Time commitment

To provide consistency for the children, placements are ideally aligned to 3-month teaching blocks (flexibility can be considered case-by-case).

Teaching is approximately 20-25 scheduled hours per week, with additional informal support encouraged (homework help, mealtime conversation, activities).

What’s included

Accommodation, meals, and a small living allowance are provided.

What you’ll need to cover

You will cover flights, visas, medical preparation, background checks, and insurance.

Child safety & checks

As part of our commitment to child safety and privacy, successful applicants will be required to provide a current Police Check and Working With Children Check (or local equivalent), and to follow confidentiality requirements.
