Growing Skills, Confidence and Opportunity Across Our Homes

Across our homes, some of the best learning happens through everyday experiences — working together, trying something new, taking responsibility and discovering what they can do.

Here are a few recent highlights from Home Hug, PAMA House and Baan Tharn Namchai.

Baan Home Hug: Learning Through Doing

At Home Hug, the kids have been getting hands-on through their agricultural skills training, caring for vegetables they have planted and helping with the harvest.

The activity teaches them about planning, teamwork and responsibility, while the vegetables they grow are used in meals at the foundation. Seeing the results of their work also gives the kids a real sense of pride in what they have achieved together.

They have also been sorting plastic bottles for recycling and turning them into recycled keychains. Along the way, they are developing practical skills and learning more about creativity, recycling and caring for the environment.

PAMA House: Building Skills Through Experience

Mai, Wawa, Tong-sun and Cha recently gained hands-on work experience at Kitchen Good, a local restaurant near PAMA House.

Working in food service gave them the chance to experience a real workplace, take on new responsibilities and develop practical skills that can support them in the future.

Baan Tharn Namchai (BTN): Achievements Worth Celebrating

There has been plenty to celebrate at BTN, with the kids achieving across academic, sporting and computer competitions.

Khao-Hom took first prize in the Thai Language Academic Competition at the Southern Regional level and was selected to represent the region at the national competition.

Prick-Yuak also took first prize at the provincial Science Academic Competition for a project exploring how nutmeg seeds could be used to help get rid of termites.

On the sporting field, Hamin and Price won gold and silver medals respectively in the provincial long jump competition and progressed to the Southern Regional level.

Saidon received a silver medal in a primary school computer skills competition for Grades 4–6.

Each achievement is a reminder of what can happen when kids are encouraged to learn, practise, explore their interests and give something a go.

From growing vegetables and gaining workplace experience to stepping onto regional and national stages, these are the experiences helping the kids build confidence and new possibilities for the future.
