Sponsoring with Heart: Jeff, Rachael, Wawa & Gunta’s Journey

It was during their time with Hands Across the Water that Jeff and Rachael saw firsthand what sponsorship means — not as a transaction, but as a transformation.

“We chose to sponsor when we saw with our own eyes the difference a little extra support could make,” they shared. “It’s the kind of decision that starts small and becomes something so much bigger.”

Jeff and Rachael sponsor two children, Wawa and Gunta, both living at PAMA House. Over the past two years, they’ve watched these young people blossom — from curious kids to confident individuals with bright futures. “To witness their growth has been incredible,” they said. “We’re so excited about where life might take them.”

One moment that particularly stood out? Seeing Wawa take part in one of Hands’ legendary charity bike rides. “Her courage and determination were inspiring,” they said. “It reminded us that what we’re doing helps build lives of choice — not chance.”

Through their journey with Wawa and Gunta, Jeff and Rachael have come to appreciate the strength and resilience of these children. “They’ve taught us so much — not just about gratitude, but about facing life with joy and determination.”

Gunta, now 10 years old, says:

Wawa shares:
