I am raising money to support the children of Hands Across the Water because I believe that all children deserve to build a future full of possibilities, opportunities and dreams - a life of choice, not chance.

Hands Across the Water [Hands] started as a charity in response to the Boxing Day Tsunami. Now we support 350+ children living in 7 homes and projects across Thailand. 

The kids who come to live in a Hands home are there because they have no choice. This is often the result of one of three heartbreaking situations:

  • They have no known family to care for them
  • They have a family member who is known to them, but is unable to care for them
  • They are living in an unsafe environment and have been placed in our care by the police or government

Hands not only provides the life-saving necessities for the kids in our homes, they also support many families in an outreach program to help keep kids out of our homes.

Just as important as filling their bellies with healthy food and providing a safe bed to sleep in, with the support of amazing donors like you, the vision of Hands is to help these kids see the opportunities that lie before them, to see a life of choice.

Sunday 23rd Mar
Well it’s official - I now leave in less than 48 hours! Great to get in another 50km today. Next time on a bike will be in Thailand!!

Was great to get back out for a long ride yesterday. A nice little 52km stint through to the foothills

Injury!

Monday 3rd Mar
Training ride on 1 March was going well until she fell. Oops. Now that it’s happened once, it won’t happen again, right? 22km into the journey, the silliness kicked in and she lost control. But it’s okay, a quick ride home for a big bandaid and we were off again to complete the 40km ride that was planned. She’s been nursing a big ol’ bruise and scrape for a few days now but keen to get back to it asap. The ride isn’t far away!

Wednesday 22nd Jan
Did a quick little 15 minute sprint on the stationary bike at my local gym before a lower body strength class. Here is the aftermath!

Tuesday 14th Jan
So those who know me know that riding is definitely not my forte. It's laughable really that I've said yes to this challenge when she's a wobbler! But I'm so looking forward to pushing myself out of my comfort zone for this incredible charity to help the children of Thailand.
