Back at it

I am back at it, running that is... It has been over 2 years and 2 children since I have run any distance other than after my first child, but it is time to get back out there. In the spirit of International Women's Day and taking on a challenge for this year, I am going to challenge myself to take on a 10K run and, to make it even better, I want to try and raise 1K for the children of Hands Across the Water. I am making this choice because I can, and because all kids deserve to live a life of choice, not chance.
The kids who come into care with Hands Across the Water do so because of one of three situations. They have no known family to care for them, they have a family member who is known to them but is unable to care for them, or they are living in an unsafe environment and have been placed in our care by the police or government.
We believe that all children deserve the chance to build a future full of possibilities, opportunities and dreams. Just as important as filling their bellies with healthy food, our role is to help them see the opportunities that lie before them.
I want to run another 10K for myself, but I don't take it for granted that I have this choice. You can support my challenge by making a donation to Hands Across the Water to give more kids the opportunity to take on their own challenges, the big dreams that they have for their future. I hope you will!
