Hands Across the Water [Hands] began as a heartfelt response to the devastating 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami. Today, it supports over 350 children across 7 homes and outreach projects throughout Thailand.

One of the most special places Hands supports is Home Hug, a refuge for children living with disabilities, HIV, and other complex needs. The children who come to Home Hug—and other Hands homes—do so not by choice, but by necessity. They are here because:

• They have no known family to care for them

• They have a family member who is unable to provide the care they need

• They’ve been rescued from unsafe environments and placed into care by authorities

For me, this cause is deeply personal.

As someone who has worked for years with children and families with additional needs, I understand the challenges, the heartache, and the hope that lives within these young ones. I’ve dedicated much of my life to creating safe, empowering spaces where children with disabilities can thrive, not just survive. Home Hug is a place where that same spirit of compassion, care, and dignity shines through every day.

Hands does more than just put food on the table or a roof over their heads. With the support of people like you, they open up a world of possibility and choice for these children—children who often feel invisible in the wider world.

My goal is to raise funds that directly support these children and their carers. Funds that will provide not only physical essentials but also the chance for a future full of dignity, belonging, and opportunity.
