We are raising money to support the children Baan Tharn Namchai (BTN) children's home
Hands Across the Water [Hands] started as a charity in response to the Boxing Day Tsunami. Now we support 170 + children living in 3 homes and projects across Thailand.
The kids who come to live in a Hands home are there because they have no choice. This is often the result of one of three heartbreaking situations:
- They have no known family to care for them
- They have a family member who is known to them, but is unable to care for them
- They are living in an unsafe environment and have been placed in our care by the police or government
As an MLC group, we are committed to making a genuine and lasting difference by giving back to a community that needs our support. Fundraising is not simply about raising money, it’s about showing these children that people believe in them and in the futures they deserve.
This experience has the potential to be life changing, not only for the children we support, but for us as well. During our time in Thailand, we will have the opportunity to get involved in practical projects that directly benefit the Hands community, from helping to build and improve playgrounds, to creating water taps and caring for the gardens by watering and fertilising them. We will also be able to spend meaningful time with the children themselves, sharing treats, playing together and creating moments of joy that we hope they will remember. These may seem like small acts, but they are tangible ways for us to contribute, connect and make a difference.
Every contribution, no matter how small, can help create opportunities where there were once very few. The BTN program can only be as rewarding as we make it, and together every dollar genuinely makes a difference.
