Beyond Business: How Dale Beaumont Found Purpose on Two Wheels

At Hands Across the Water, bright futures are built not only for the children in our homes, but also for the people who choose to walk (and ride) alongside them. For Dale Beaumont, that future began with a book, a conversation, and a bike ride that changed everything.

Back in 2006, Dale was working on Secrets of Inspiring Leaders Exposed, a book that profiled exceptional leadership outside the usual business mould. That’s when he came across Peter Baines. After interviewing Peter for the book, Dale walked away with a deep respect, and a gut feeling they’d one day work together.
Fast forward to 2012. Dale had launched Business Blueprint, a training program for entrepreneurs, and invited Peter to speak at one of their events. When Peter shared the story of Hands Across the Water and the 800km charity ride, it struck a chord.
“By the end of that keynote, I just knew, I wanted to do that ride,” Dale says. “A few days later I signed up, and convinced six of our clients to join me.”

In January 2013, they completed that first ride, and it lit something in Dale that’s never faded.

Returning home, Dale and his wife Katherine had a conversation that changed the direction of their business. They didn’t just want to give. They wanted to stand for something, to align their values with their work, and inspire others to do the same.

“Most people think you have to be rich or retired to give. But that’s just not true. You can start right where you are, with what you have,” Dale shares.

Together, they reached out to Peter again, this time with a bold idea: could they lead their own Hands ride through Business Blueprint? With Peter’s blessing, their first company ride took place in 2014.
Since then, their community has raised over $2.5 million, supporting hundreds of children across Thailand and creating opportunities that change lives.

But Dale’s proudest moments aren’t about figures.
He remembers the ride in 2024 when he rode beside his father and his son, three generations pedalling together, sharing stories and sweat and laughter. A year later, his sponsor child, Ton-Nam, joined his first ride at age 17.

“I’d been sponsoring Ton-Nam since 2018, the same age as my son. Seeing the two of them ride together was one of the most meaningful moments of my life.”

These moments are why Dale stays involved. For the connections. For the community. For the quiet clarity that comes when you’re on a bike in the Thai countryside, reminded of what really matters.

“As a business owner, I’m used to leading. But with Hands, I come to contribute. To support. To be part of something bigger.”

Hands has become more than a charity partner for Dale, it’s become part of his life. It’s woven into the fabric of his business, his values, and his legacy.

“It’s not just about what we give. It’s about who we become in the process. These rides, this work, it makes you better. More grounded. More grateful.”
Dale’s message to others is clear: you don’t need to wait. Start now. Do what you can. Lead with your heart.

“Open your heart. Do what you can with what you have. Give without expectation. The rest has a way of coming back to you in ways you’ll never expect.”

For Dale, the impact is personal. It’s people, not programs. It’s purpose, not publicity. It’s building something that lasts, long after the ride ends.

That’s how bright futures are created.
