Stephen Plank Last year I sailed around the South Pacific on a bucket-list adventure that had been planned for years. It was my first offshore sailing experience, and in my boat (S.V. Close Encounters) that I'd personally prepared. I gave it my all. We sailed Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia and met lots of beautiful people, with whole hearts in amazing communities.

I learnt a few things:-
Firstly, that time is short, and we must live every minute of our remaining lives to the full.
Secondly, there are plenty of beautiful people living in inferior conditions, merely wanting a hand-up.
They don't want charity.
They don't expect anything for free.
Just an act of kindness
That's all.

I haven't really given much in my life, and I've taken a lot from a very generous world. I'm a lucky man. Two good kids, lots of fantastic support friends, good health, living a great life in one of the most amazing countries in the world...New Zealand. Thank you universe for being kind to me. So that is my motivation for doing this?

Easily - because I can. And because it will make an immediate and measurable difference. Stephen Plank
