Hands Announces Charity Status in Thailand with Special Event in Bangkok

12 Dec 2022

We were thrilled to be able to host a special event in Bangkok to announce Hands Across the Water's charity status in Thailand on the 24th of November, 2022.

In July of this year, Hands was granted charity status in Thailand, which means we can now raise funds in Thailand. Up until this time, we have been operating out of Australia and New Zealand and have raised over 730 Million Thai Baht since 2005.

Thai charity status represents a new phase for Hands and for the children in the communities where we operate.

Hosted by our Founder and Director of International Operations Peter Baines OAM, Chairman Kay Spencer, and CEO Claire Baines.

It was a beautiful event to share how far Hands has come and where we plan to go in the future.

Have you ever felt like you didn’t have a choice? That your life was determined entirely by chance? It is a heartbreaking feeling of powerlessness. But that is where Hands Across the Water comes in…

Hands Across the Water [Hands] started as a charity eighteen years ago in response to the Boxing Day Tsunami. Since its inception, Hands has grown into an organisation that provides Thai children with opportunity to live a life of choice, not chance.

Those who made the choice to attend our special Hands Charity Status Announcement Event in Bangkok on 24th November 2022, made a choice to be part of something that can benefit the lives of many not only in the communities where Hands operates, but also across Thailand.
