Hands Across the Water turns 15

01 Sep 2020

15 years ago, Hands started amongst the devastation within a country that would bear the brunt of the force of nature. Unseen in our generation, the immediate loss of life would be one measure, but the long term impact would be another that was worn as a scar - it can be hidden but it never goes away.

We, united as a community spread across countries, once again fight for a future that is filled with freedom, health, happiness and opportunities. If we have learnt one thing over the last 15 years, the journey forward is never a straight and predictable one, that would be boring. What we have learnt is that the best way through challenging times is to face them head on with a resolve built on the comfort of knowing that we are not alone and together we find a way to succeed and indeed excel.

At Hands, we are better equipped to face the challenges before us, because you are by our side. The strength and commitment of the Hands community has never been more evident than it has been in 2020.

By your actions, you have said the children of Hands matter; out of sight does not mean out of mind. The children, the futures we are building for them, the opportunities we are creating, indeed the life of choice they live rather than a life of chance matters to you and we see that, we feel that and we deeply appreciate that.

To celebrate our 15 years of supporting the kids and communities of Thailand we are inviting you to be part of a Big Night In. On the 31st of October, I would love you to join us for dinner, from your home as we reflect on the journey, celebrate the achievements and look to the future with hope. This is a global event so no matter where you are in the world you can join in the festivities.

It’s never been easy to raise funds to support the kids, provide them with the future they deserve, but it has never been this hard. By joining us for dinner, you will make that pathway less bumpy and little bit more certain.

The team are putting together a meaningful experience for you to share and connect with your loved ones in your home. They are seriously taking care of everything - you just have to provide the venue and the guests! Sounds like a great deal to me.
