I am raising money to support the children of Hands Across the Water because I believe that all children deserve to build a future full of possibilities, opportunities and dreams - a life of choice, not chance.

Hands Across the Water [Hands] started as a charity in response to the Boxing Day Tsunami. Now we support 200+ children living in 7 homes and projects across Thailand.

The kids who come to live in a Hands home are there because they have no choice. This is often the result of one of three heartbreaking situations:

  • They have no known family to care for them
  • They have a family member who is known to them, but is unable to care for them
  • They are living in an unsafe environment and have been placed in our care by the police or government

Hands not only provides the life-saving necessities for the kids in our homes, they also support many families in an outreach program to help keep kids out of our homes.

Just as important as filling their bellies with healthy food and providing a safe bed to sleep in, with the support of amazing donors like you, the vision of Hands is to help these kids see the opportunities that lie before them, to see a life of choice.

My hope is that you will make the choice to join me in this experience and help me reach my personal fundraising goal. Please make a donation today to support these children and provide them with a better future.

Together we can truly make a difference - Donate now!

Building more than a gym

Thursday 27th Nov
There are moments in life when you get the opportunity to be part of something that transcends the ordinary, when the work of your hands can become a bridge between possibility and reality for someone else.

I've been given the incredible chance to join the project team to build a gym with Hands Across the Water in May 2026, and as I prepare for this journey and work to raise the funds needed to participate, I'm feeling both inspired and deeply grateful.

Why This Project Calls to Me

At first glance, building a gym might seem like a luxury when there are so many fundamental needs to address. But as I've learned more about Hands' philosophy, I understand that this project is about so much more than physical fitness.

For children who've experienced trauma, loss, and instability, a gym represents:

A safe space to build strength

Not just physical, but emotional and mental resilience. These kids need tools to process their experiences and develop confidence in their own capabilities.

Community and belonging

Sports and physical activity bring people together. A gym creates opportunities for teamwork, friendship, and the kind of supportive relationships that help children thrive.

Healthy outlets

Physical activity is proven to reduce stress, improve mental health, and provide positive alternatives to risky behaviours. For at-risk youth, this can be transformative.

Hope for the future

By investing in facilities that support the children's wellbeing and development, we're sending a powerful message: You matter. Your health matters. Your future matters.

What draws me most to this project is the way it embodies Hands' core belief that "supporting charity should be good for you, not just those receiving the money." This isn't about writing a check and walking away. It's about rolling up my sleeves, learning new skills, working alongside others, and creating something tangible that will serve these children for years to come.

I'm imagining what it will feel like to mix cement, lay tiles, or paint walls knowing that children will use this space to grow stronger and more confident. Every task will take on new meaning. Every bead of sweat will be an investment in someone else's future.

And I can't wait to meet the children themselves, to see their excitement, to learn from their resilience, and to witness firsthand the hope that Hands Across the Water has helped kindle in their lives.

I'm grateful to Anytime Fitness Australia and Hands Across the Water for creating opportunities like this, experiences that challenge us physically, inspire us emotionally, and connect us to something meaningful.
