Riding again in 2025 - wonder if I wil train this time for it 😂

Wednesday 7th Aug
Back on the Bike for Hands Across the Water in 2025

500km, 5 days, 1 mission

This  year’s ride was a gruelling test of both physical and mental endurance for me.

Cycling 100km a day, without any training (thinking it can’t be that hard I mean I used to ride a bicycle when I was a kid … about 3 decades ago).

Well it was a challenge that pushed me to my limits.
Yes, yes; I know it was quite irresponsible and stupid of me not to traine or prepare physically for it, but I knew and believed that my body will cooperate and I will finish the bike ride in Thailand.

During the ride especially the last two days, while sometimes I was cycling alone (becuase I was slow and most people would overtake me)  I had time to be in my mind in my thoughts and getting to know myself, I have discovered a strength I never knew I had.

It was mind over matter, pure and simple.

But the thought that kept repeating in my head is: “if you give up now how would you feel?! “

If you know me I am not one who gives in without a decent push!

So I found myself repeating:  “Amália you did not come this far just to come this far! Finish it no matter what”
so I finished the ride! The whole 500kms

And most importantly together we have raised funds for the incredible work Hands Across the Water does for children in the homes!

God, I miss those little munchkins.

Together with everyone who has donated we have Blessed their little  lives  for the year ahead! The money goes on to give the roof over their heads food medical assistance clothing and education. They will grow up in the Home and just so you can see how much of an impact the help makes 4 of them are going to university this year!

So here we go!!!! In July 2025, I'm back in the saddle for another 500km adventure through Thailand.

But this time, it’s more than just a physical challenge. It’s personal:

I’m dedicating this ride to my dear friend: Chris Fitzpatrick, who passed away while I was on the bike this year (2024)

Chris was a passionate supporter of my efforts and a generous donor to Hands Across the Water.

His last Facebook post was actually encouraging his friends to support my ride and donate to Hands foundation.

I want to honour his memory by making a real difference in the lives of these children.

It won’t be easy, but with your support as well dearest reader, we can make a significant impact.

Let’s come together to help these kids have a brighter future.

As Steve Jobs famously said, "Let's put a dent in the universe." Together, we can do just that.

Stay tuned for updates on my training (maybe hahaha or maybe not) and fundraising journey.
