Team Garside: back on the bikes for the Hands kids
We're heading back to Thailand on 29 October for our third Hands Across the Water ride. 500km in 5 days, on Thai roads, in Thai heat.
Hands started in response to the Boxing Day Tsunami. Today it supports more than 350 children across 7 homes and projects in Thailand. The kids who live in a Hands home didn't choose to be there. Usually it's because:
They have no known family to care for them
They have a family member who can't care for them
They were living somewhere unsafe and were placed in care by the police or government
Hands also runs an outreach program that supports families so their kids can stay at home in the first place.
A safe bed and a full belly matter, but the bigger goal is helping these kids see the opportunities in front of them and grow up with real choices in life.
That's what we're riding for. We'll do the pedalling, and if you can chip in, we'd be hugely grateful. Every dollar makes a difference.
