I am raising money to support the children of Hands Across the Water because I believe that all children deserve to build a future full of possibilities, opportunities and dreams - a life of choice, not chance.

Hands Across the Water [Hands] started as a charity in response to the Boxing Day Tsunami. Now we support 350+ children living in 7 homes and projects across Thailand.

The kids who come to live in a Hands home are there because they have no choice. This is often the result of one of three heartbreaking situations:

  • They have no known family to care for them
  • They have a family member who is known to them, but is unable to care for them
  • They are living in an unsafe environment and have been placed in our care by the police or government

Hands not only provides the life-saving necessities for the kids in our homes, they also support many families in an outreach program to help keep kids out of our homes.

Just as important as filling their bellies with healthy food and providing a safe bed to sleep in, with the support of amazing donors like you, the vision of Hands is to help these kids see the opportunities that lie before them, to see a life of choice.

My hope is that you will make the choice to join me in this experience and help me reach my personal fundraising goal. Please make a donation today to support these children and provide them with a better future.

Together we can truly make a difference - Donate now!

A huge reason to smile!

Tuesday 2nd Sep
I have secured my very first corporate sponsor - JETSTAR!! I cannot thank my friends at Jetstar enough for your offer of support with my campaign and cannot wait to wear that orange shirt with pride!
The travel industry truly is something else - we may not have it all but we do have each other, and I LOVE it! Thank you for trusting in me, our partnership and most of all our friendship - you know who you are ;)
Starting this week with this amazing news has definitely given me the spring I needed back on the bike - a personal best of 22kms this morning before work - in just under 1hr :)

Sometimes life gets in the way - and that's ok!

Tuesday 2nd Sep
Week 3 into my training campaign and a conference hits - early starts, late nights and a huge amount of talking got in the way of my training last week. I had to tell myself that conferences are one of my favourite things to do and one of the reasons I am on this journey in the first place!
Being kind to my mind and reminding myself that life gets in the way sometimes - and thats ok. Back at it this week though :)

Number one training partner

Monday 18th Aug
My oldest son Maverick, aged 13 years - number one training partner, support, fundraising brain!

New Wheels!

Monday 18th Aug
Got myself some new wheels - adult size this time ;)

Week 1 - almost complete

Friday 15th Aug
5 days in and what a ride (no pun intended!) My commitment to this challenge has inspired conversation, connection and a few laughs and I am feeling amazing! I have trained every day on my spin bike this week which I am fully aware is not ideal but will be out shopping tomorrow for a new road friend ;) I have met with old friends and new and have set my intention out into the world by posting on social media - there really is no backing out now!
Im going to use a phrase I was reminded of this week; "If you can, you should" - think about it ;)

I can and I will...

Tuesday 12th Aug
I didnt anticipate posting a daily update on here but maybe I will - we'll see! I have been blown away by messages of support and the occasional 'are you mad?', 'are you ok?', 'have you lost the plot?' questions! I have had a few very hard conversations with people who I love who doubt my ability. I have no doubt these concerns are of love but from today only I will remind myself every day when I get on the bike why I am doing this - for the kids, for Thailand, for me and for my legacy. I want to leave this earth knowing that I made a small dent in making our world a better place for generations to come - no matter where you are or what you have in life :)

Challenge of a lifetime

Monday 11th Aug
This year I turned 45 years old, or halfway as I like to call it! I'm not as fit as I have been, I'm not a patient as I could be but one thing I do know is I care - about so much and so many.
Its taken the majority of my adult life to find out who I really am - or who I really want to be (even though she was there all along!) I have the support of not one but two amazing families, my friends, colleagues and last but certainly not least my three boys whom I share this crazy world with. I am determined to show my boys how even the smallest of kindness can bring so much light into this sometimes dark world and that Mums really are superhumans ;)

Im signing up for this adventure for so many reasons but ultimately to challenge my mind and my body and support a charity I have admired from afar for so long. Now its my turn to sweat, work hard and share my love in my favourite place on earth, Thailand.
There will be tears, many, many tears and those of you who know me well know I have just a bit of training to do!
Join me on this journey, if only online by following our progress and supporting our fundraising efforts - I promise it will be a laugh to watch!

Thank you to my Sponsors

I have had the opportunity to experience what Pete does with Hands Across The Water does to help these children during our last Directors and Above conference in BKK. It made me realize how well I have things in my life. And how I really should not complain about such mundane things when there are people who don't have two coins to rub together. I have to thank you for that. For showing how we all are blessed and how a little goes a long way for those in need. While I can't join you on your journey physically (Wish I could). Maybe you could the day you decide to boot me out of Sri Lanka and take me over there under your wing ;). Regardless, you have my support through it all - This is for us! The one and only #ATeam. Can't wait for what's next!
