Help me support +350 children in Thailand and survive a +500km bike ride along the Mekong River

15th of August I will start a +500km (+310 miles) bicycle ride along the Mekong River in Northern Thailand. The ride is 5 days in +35 degrees (+95 Fahrenheit) between Bueng Kan to Yasothon where the goal is to ride into Baan Home Hug child centre and meet all kids at that centre.

This is the second time I will do the ride (see images on my profile), the first time was early March 2020, a week when many countries in the world closed their borders and because of COVID, the world in many ways became a lot less open. The need from these kids hasn't gone away just because of COVID and less travelling, and I'm happy that the world is opening up so that I once again can challenge myself for a good cause.

This trip is arranged by Hands Across the Water (HATW), an Australian organisation (hence the fundraising in AUD) that I have the deepest respect for. The charity started out after the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004 where the first goal was to help the needs of kids who didn't have homes or access to food, clothing and medicine. As the kids have grown and matured, the focus has shifted to education and future employment opportunities. Today, access to new and exciting opportunities for the kids is just as important as a loving home and a belly full of healthy food. HATW today take care of +350 kid in 7 different centres spread over Thailand.

The last time I did the trip my wife was pregnant with our now 19-month-old son Viggo. Now over 2 years later we, as a family live in Thailand and going on this trip, is not only fundraising for me, it is a cause that hits very close to home. I really hope that Viggo grows up and understands that not all kids in the world are as fortunate as he is, I also hope that the kids in these centres grow up with the belief and the possibility to realise their dreams and that I (you) played a small little part in that.

The goal is to raise $5,000 AUD ($3,600 USD or 35,000 Swedish Krona), the logistics of the trip are already paid for and every dollar/krona goes straight to the kids. So please help me!

Thanks a lot in advance! - Erik
