A Night to Illuminate Futures
Our Night of Celebration is the highlight experience at the end of the year that celebrates our community of do-gooders and brings together these compassionate individuals and organisations for an evening to share our impact with those who make it happen.
It is a time to share our stories and share our experiences that light up our hearts and minds as well as build brighter futures and lives of choice for our kids in Thailand. We see their faces light up with every opportunity they are provided and we hope to try and capture that intangible light and take it this year's Night of Celebration: Illuminate the Future.
This year's is particularly special as we approach the 20th anniversary of the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004, the catalyst event that saw the creation of Hands Across the Water as it began in 2005. As we approach the anniversary of this significant event, we also honour the work that has been done since this time in transforming lives and illuminating futures. The origin of Hands Across the Water was a dark time, but since that time we have continued to light the way towards the future and find the brightness in the hopes and dreams we've been able to build for our kids and their futures.

Spotlight on: The Run to Remember
To honour the anniversary of the tsunami this December, our Founder, Peter Baines OAM, will embark on a remarkable 1,400km journey from Baan Home Hug in the North East Thailand to Baan Tharn Namchai down in the South. Beginning on 1st December 2024, the “Run to Remember” will span 26 days, demonstrating Peter’s enduring commitment to the children and communities that Hands has served for almost 20 years.
Peter’s inspiring journey is just one reason to attend the Night of Celebration this year. Your presence will shine a light on his mission to raise $1m in December 2024, continuing to provide a bright future for the kids we have supported since 2005. You'll gain insight into the question you must be asking, “WHY??”, and observe some exciting new projects that will illuminate employment opportunities for our kids. Importantly, you will get the opportunity to contribute to Peter’s $1m fundraising goal, helping to light the way for a brighter future.
