Peter Baines

Founder and International Director Hands Across the Water. His passion for helping others, especially Thailand’s children, has inspired people around the world to have the courage to make a difference. Peter will dive deep into the HATW foundation achievements and the importance of Leadership in today’s world.

In addition to leading Hands, Peter is the principal of Peter Baines Consulting. Peter helps businesses build effective sustainable leadership programs through a unique mix of leadership and corporate social responsibility initiatives. His corporate social responsibility platforms create goodwill, staff engagement and sustainable change.

Peter was awarded the Order of Australian Medal in 2014 for service to international humanitarian aid in Thailand.

Rob Barty

Robert Barty is the father of one of Australia’s greatest ever sports stars, Ash Barty. Hear about the highs and low and the challengers of being a Dad to a great tennis legend.

Rob has an Indigenous heritage and was recently inducted as an Elder for the Ngarigo people and nation where he actively engages in opportunities to benefit Indigenous Australians.

Rob married Josie in 1988 and they have three wonderful daughters. After 30 plus years as a public servant he is now Chairperson for the Ashleigh Barty Foundation. The Foundation works towards creating better educational and sporting opportunities for young Australians across the country.

Kylie Kis

Real Estate Auctioneer and Property Partner with The Agency. Kylie is a leading auctioneer on the Sunshine Coast and has forged a very successful career in what is a very competitive industry.

Steve has held top-tier leadership positions with three of the world’s largest media companies, including international giants REA Group (realestate.com.au) and News Corp, leading hundreds of staff and real estate professionals in three different continents through change and towards greater opportunity.
The Australian real estate industry led by Steve will complete its 7th bike ride for Hands Across The Water in 2025 and is closing in on 2 million dollars collected for the charity.

MEET THE CEO

Claire Baines

 Claire was appointed CEO of Hands Group to oversee the social enterprise that supports the charity. She has completed over 30 bike rides for Hands, personally raising over $200,000, and believes that all children deserve a life of choice just like she had growing up.
