About the ride

Heading down Thailand’s east coast beside the gulf of Thailand you’ll ride through towns such as Lang Suan and Surat Thani before crossing the mountains that divide the east and west.

From there it’s a short trip to Khao Lak where the children from our Baan Tharn Namchai home will greet you excitedly and show you exactly how important your fundraised dollars are – not just for sustaining them, but for deeply enriching their lives.

6 Nights Twin Share Accommodation

Hybrid Bike

This time we’re riding hybrid bikes. They’re a cross between a mountain bike and a road bike, with heaps of gears, flat handlebars, and tyres that are thinner than a mountain bike, but thicker than a road bike. They’re lighter than a mountain bike too, so they offer the best of both worlds. The best thing about this year’s ride is we’re all on the same bikes, so it’s a great ‘leveller’. You’ll have options to bring your own seat, seat cover, pedals and cleats.

With more information provided about this closer to the event.

Support crew and bike mechanics

We’re working with the best bike support crew available in Thailand to make sure your bike is running smoothly, and you’re comfortable as possible on it. Nothing is too much trouble as long as you bring your manners. We’re allowing more time to fit you to a bike too, so that will be done the night BEFORE we start riding. That means the next morning we start off bright and early in the cooler part of the day.

Individual Fundraising Profile

Once you have registered and paid your $650 deposit, you will receive a link to your personal fundraising page.

You can update this page with your story and share your unique link to start raising funds. The team at Hands are there to support you with ideas so don’t be afraid to ask for help. The fundraising page will be live from July 1, so if you raise any money beforehand just keep a note of it to deposit then..

Training Program

You will receive a training program that will help prep you for your 400km journey.

The key to being ‘bike fit’ for the ride is time in the saddle as opposed to km’s ridden so through the winter months make sure you get to the local gym, join a spin class, or set up a stationary trainer at home to clock up hours on the bike. The fitter you are, the more you’ll enjoy the ride, so please don’t leave it until the last minute to start training!

Dedicated ride coordinator

Tash (DTR) and Sam (Hands) are here to support you by answering any questions you might have about the ride, and arrange any additional activities you want to organise for your experience. Just reach out and ask for help.
