19 January 2010 (day two)
Today was the day for accidents - four in total.
- Jules did an amazing fall into mud in slow motion with grace and style to the backdrop of cheers and whistles. When quizzed about the unfortunate event, Jules defended her fall by saying she was avoiding a snake and dog fight - funny thing is no one else saw either;
- Pete did a fantastic over the handlebars acrobatic number. He was riding with no hands (show off) and looking over his shoulder missed the turn in the road and ended up in bushes with not as much grace and style as Jules - in fact, none!
- Willie tasted the Thai earth first hand by forgetting he was wearing cleats and stopped the bike without pulling his feet out and ended up down the side of a hill. Fall was quite dramatic and all the riders stopped but after we all saw it was only his pride that was hurt we took off and left him to his own devices.
- Trish took it one step further by colliding with a tuk tuk. Gotta love Thai drivers who manage to drive so close they can clip bike riders.
Today was a long day with 120kms covered. Ed Jackson, Darren Spencer, Michael Doyle, Tom Kokorous, Steph Ellis (chased by her sister Caz Ellis) and Andrew Moyston were the front runners all day hitting over 40km per hour on some stretches.
All the children continued to amaze us all powering through to the end and having more stamina then some of the adults.
Special mention goes to David Musumeci who declared today was a day he was going to ride hard and potentially induce a vomit. Gotta love that commitment and drive!!
Dan Murray (Trailer Man) did us all proud by continuing to pull his additional 30kgs along behind him and keep up with the pack. Amazing stuff - puts the rest of us to shame.
